Putting My Book Project Aside to Participate in Connecticut-Based Events in 2026
Speaking at Beverly Public Library, October 2025. I just want to thank everyone who periodically ask me about my book project on the Huntingtons and their long arc of time in Norwich (1660-1893) and what can be learned from that. I want to know how they made their money and were a robust family until bad things happened and then they finally had to move. It's a saga. I like sagas--but sagas take a long time I guess, especially if you want to get it right! It'll probably be 80

All Things Powder and Provisions: When Norwich Came to the Aid of Washington
This was a fun day! Battle of Bunker's Hill reenactment, June 2025, Gloucester, MA. The rebels eventually lost this battle because they ran out of gunpowder . But, they held on long enough to give the Regulars a pretty bad beating. Note the antique garbage can. It is early January 2026 and I am preparing a new long-form journal article, as well as a companion presentation, regarding 1776 and Norwich, Connecticut. I can prove the tremendous roles ordinary Norwich people played

Faith Trumbull Huntington (1743-1775): A Nod to Her Short But Well-Lived Life
Did Faith actually witness this famous battle? Visiting the area on June 17, 1775 exposed her to war. I have enjoyed watching Ken Burns' documentary, The American Revolution, and appreciate all the hard work that has gone into it . However, I was more than a bit disturbed by the lack of screen time for colonial Connecticut merchants and politicians that did so much for the war during the first few years. Connecticut merchants and their associates (i.e. ship captains) fed and

Andrew Huntington (1745-1824): Revolutionary War Commissary Helps Sickly French Troops
I still continue to slowly wade my way through my book. Have had an extremely busy year of shoulder surgery, travel, and family business. The Revolutionary War chapters are the most challenging because there are a lot of documents to sift through, prioritize, and analyze. Andrew (1745-1824), was the second of Jabez' five sons (Jedediah, Andrew, Joshua, Ebenezer, and Zechariah) and the only one to not have an active-duty military career during the war. He was, however, a reso
